The Australian Pelican Pelecanus conspicillatus (kon-spis&39;-il-ah&39;-tus: "spectacled pelican") has a length of 160 to 180 cm and a wingspan around 250 cm. The most imposing feature is their huge pink bill with a deep expandable skin pouch in the lower mandible; the upper mandible serves as a lid for covering the pouch. Pelicans are large white bodied aquatic birds with black feathers on the wing edges, stumpy tail and lower back. They usually have grey feathers
