|Janice Gillgren has published a new stock image: two men direct alpaca to shearing area.
This alpaca is being carefully directed to where it will be shorn. Alpaca are strong animals, and while generally well behaved, they can be hard to handle if they don't want to be moved.
The alpaca is native to South America, but there are some alpaca herds in New Zealand.
Alpaca fibre is similar to wool, and is very warm for its weight, making its fleece quite valuable. This is taken in Northland. NZ
